The Union Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cleared the BHAVYA-Rasayan Scheme on Friday, allocating Rs 3,030 crore to establish three dedicated Chemical Parks across the country.
The scheme sets aside Rs 3,000 crore for common infrastructure and basic utilities within the parks, with the remaining Rs 30 crore going toward administrative costs.
The Centre will contribute a grant of up to Rs 1,000 crore per park, provided the respective state government contributes a minimum of Rs 500 crore.
Each park is required to have a minimum of 8 square kilometres, or roughly 2,000 acres, of contiguous, encumbrance-free land.
First announced in the Union Budget for FY 2026-27, the scheme will run for five years, through FY 2030-31, with the goal of integrating India’s chemical sector into global value chains and cutting import reliance.
The parks are meant to provide plug-and-play infrastructure and shared utilities for chemical manufacturers.
