Times Release is committed to fair, accurate and independent journalism. This policy explains the standards our editorial team follows for every news story we publish.
Accuracy and sourcing
- We report facts we can verify. We rely on primary sources wherever possible, such as court orders, government notifications, official statements, company filings and on-the-record interviews.
- We tell readers where information comes from, and link to original documents and sources when we can.
- When information comes from another news organisation or agency, we credit it.
- Figures, dates, names and quotes are checked before publication.
- When facts are unclear or disputed, we say so, and we update stories as new information becomes available.
Fairness and balance
- We aim to present the relevant sides of a story fairly.
- When we report allegations against a person or organisation, we make a genuine effort to seek their response before publication and include it.
- We clearly separate news reporting from opinion and analysis.
Independence
- Our editorial decisions are made by our editorial team alone. They are not influenced by advertisers, sponsors, political parties or any other outside interest.
- Paid partner content is clearly labelled and kept separate from our news reporting. See our Advertising & Sponsored Content Policy.
- Our journalists do not accept payment or gifts in exchange for news coverage.
Sensitive reporting
- We do not identify victims of sexual offences, or children involved in legal proceedings, in line with Indian law.
- We report on crime, accidents, suicide and communal issues with care and avoid graphic or inflammatory detail.
- We respect the presumption of innocence and describe people accused of crimes accurately, for example as “accused” until a court decides otherwise.
- We respect privacy and only intrude on it when there is a clear public interest.
Images
We use photographs and graphics that we own, have permission to use, or that are supplied by the subjects of a story. We do not alter news photographs in ways that mislead readers.
Use of technology and AI
Our journalists may use digital tools, including AI tools, to help with research, transcription or translation. Every story is written, checked and approved by a member of our editorial team, and a person is always responsible for what we publish.
Corrections
When we make a mistake, we correct it promptly and transparently. See our Corrections Policy.
Legal and ethical framework
As a digital news publisher in India, we follow the Code of Ethics under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, including the Norms of Journalistic Conduct of the Press Council of India. Complaints about our content can be raised through our Grievance Redressal process.
