The Supreme Court is set to hear a plea seeking a CBI investigation into JSSC-CGL recruitment irregularities on September 16, after the hearing was rescheduled from September 11.
The rescheduling of the case, Harishan Devgan v. State of Jharkhand, was linked to security and administrative arrangements for the BRICS Summit in Delhi.
The JSSC-CGL exam was cancelled by the Jharkhand government on August 17, after a 24-day student protest over alleged recruitment irregularities.
A Special Investigation Team has questioned 37 suspects so far in its probe, while students continue to press for a CBI investigation, citing distrust of the state CID.
No new JSSC-CGL exam date has been announced yet, with candidates advised to track the official JSSC website for further updates.
The government also scrapped all examinations, results and selections associated with private examination agency TSR Data Processing Private Limited, known as TDPL.
Soren said investigations had indicated an interconnected network involving multiple companies operating within the recruitment examination system, and directed the state CID to investigate examinations dating back to 2014.
Student leader Devendra Nath Mahato ended a hunger strike in the presence of state ministers Dipika Pandey Singh and Irfan Ansari after the government agreed to the cancellation.
Protesting students’ central demand remains a CBI investigation into the recruitment irregularities, as they say they do not trust the state CID after its earlier probe into the JSSC exam.
A Special Investigation Team formed to investigate irregularities in the JSSC-CGL exam has questioned 37 suspects so far as part of its accelerated inquiry.
The Supreme Court case, titled Harishan Devgan v. State of Jharkhand, includes intervention applications filed by the JPSC JSSC Reform Manch seeking a CBI probe.
The Reform Manch has said the legal battle is not about any single candidate or recruitment advertisement, but about transparency in Jharkhand’s administrative recruitment structure.
