Diljit Dosanjh’s Delhi concert: What police said, what reports differ on, what is unknown

What police said: the request could not be approved, according to a letter to BookMyShow reported by ETV Bharat.

Reasons reported: security concerns, threat-related inputs and the festive season; Aryan Age says security concerns alone.

Differs: Aryan Age says the show is now postponed, while ETV Bharat does not mention a postponement.

Unknown: a new date or venue, ticket refunds and any response from the singer or the organisers.

Background: the date moved from November 1 to October 30 earlier, according to Aryan Age.

The concert was expected to open the singer’s Aura India Tour, according to ETV Bharat.

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Delhi, sent a letter to the ticketing platform BookMyShow saying the request could not be approved, according to ETV Bharat.

The reasons were reportedly security concerns, threat-related inputs, the festive season and other law and order requirements, according to the same report.

PTI, as cited by ETV Bharat, said the police cited security concerns and the festive season.

Aryan Age attributes the denial to security concerns alone and reports that the show is now postponed.

The concert was first planned for November 1 and was moved to October 30 because of sensitivities around the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, according to Aryan Age.

The show is co-produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live, according to ETV Bharat.

The organisers had not announced a revised date or an alternative venue when the reports were published.

ETV Bharat says it is unclear whether the organisers will seek an alternative arrangement for Delhi.

The reports reviewed carried no response from Diljit Dosanjh or from BookMyShow.

The reports did not give ticket or refund information for the Delhi show.

The reported schedule of the Aura India Tour includes Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Kolkata, according to ETV Bharat.
