Political tensions in Jammu and Kashmir escalated today as the ruling JKNC announced plans to gherao BJP headquarters in Srinagar and Jammu.
The counter-protest was announced hours after the BJP said it would march towards the Civil Secretariat, accusing the NC-led government of inaction on its commitments.
JKNC’s demands centre on constitutional guarantees for Jammu and Kashmir, full statehood restoration, clearance of the reservation file, and Union Government accountability over pledges made in Parliament and before the Supreme Court.
The Srinagar demonstration is set for 10:00 am at Gindun Park near the Rajbagh police station, with a similar protest planned in Jammu.
