Reports surfaced alleging that renowned Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was arrested in Dubai. However, the singer has since dismissed these claims, calling the reports “fake.”
According to Geo News, which cited sources from Dubai police, the arrest was purportedly due to a defamation complaint filed by Khan’s former manager, Salman Ahmed. In response, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan took to the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to clarify the situation. He stated, “The news circulating regarding the arrest is fake and baseless.”
Sources indicate that Ahmed had lodged complaints against Khan with Dubai authorities following a dispute that led to his dismissal a few months prior. Both parties have reportedly filed cases against each other.
In his video message, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan assured his fans, “I am in Dubai to record songs. My songs are doing very well here. Everything is fine. I would like to request you all not to pay heed to fake news. My audience is my power.”
This isn’t the first time the singer has been embroiled in controversy. Earlier this year, a viral video purportedly showed him violently thrashing a man, whom he claimed was his disciple, with his shoe. The video also depicted others attempting to pull Khan away from the individual to prevent further harm.
The victim was later identified as an employee of Pakistani broadcaster Samaa TV, raising concerns about rising violent behavior among celebrities. An X user captioned the video, “Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was caught abusing his servant. Later, he gave an explanation.”
